Many of the Japanese characters come from Chinese. Traditional Chinese, more accurately. And these characters usually have the same or similar meanings in both languages. (Some of the commonly-used Japanese characters, which appear moderately sickening in my eyes, don't, though. :D) Quite a lot Chinese people can "read" Japanese characters in a certain degree, through guessing.
The pronunciation of Japanese is entirely different from the one of Chinese language, even when the characters are the same, so most of us can't "listen to" or "speak" Japanese.

Honestly most your Chinese guys above make me feel desperate about the future of our race/nation.... Can't you guys endeavor to post something more meaningful, and change the image of our race in the view of foreign users in the slightest degree? (Again, I'm not indicating all Chinese users above, just most of them, maricky is not doing bad, for instance.)

Chinese is widely known as one of the languages that is hardest to learn in the world. (There are some people arguing Icelandic is harder, though.) It's quite likely that about 3 years of learning is required to understand the basic written words (some 30,000 weird-looking characters :D ), while the spoken part may take longer time. (Mostly because of dialects: You would discover that the people in northern China seem to speak a totally different language from the people in the southern part. I myself is totally unable to understand the "language" they speak in the southern part, at least.) So, perhaps you should double think before you try. :)
(And after all, being able to understand the Chinese clients is not necessarily a good thing.)

@RichardGv Yeah, if I do end up trying to learn it, I will definitely have a challenge on my hands. How did you learn English, by the way? I never asked.

Well, it's perhaps a good thing for me that you have never asked. Approximately 200 times I've heard this question (since too many people are interested in it in China), and my usual reaction is standing there thinking for 20 seconds, and saying: I don't know, I indeed don't know. :D I've been learning the language for about 10 years, and during the period of time I have tried numerous methods and learned from numerous sources -- not less than 200, I assume -- and I have no idea which one(s) is of the utmost importance. Maybe the computers played an important role, though, since after all, I learned many things from the BSOD messages of Microsoft Windows 98 in the early years. :D (It's a major factor in the formation of my pronunciation issues (is that's the correct expression?) -- too, though, because computers don't speak, in most cases.)
