you can surely use the meebo chat bar. i think its the best one. and if you want to help your customer live, zopim is the best option. you should really check out zopim!

i already use ZopIM but i don't want it so i can talk to members i want members to talk to each other

if you want to make a social networking site, try using the buddypress plugin http://buddypress.org/ in your wordpress installation. that is the best social networking software ever. you can get a lots of plugin for your buddypress too :D best of luck
