i know how to let people sign up to my site now! but I'm not going to set it up till the site is finished, does anyone know how to make a custom chat bar so people can chat with there friends that are online? and they have to be signed into the site not the bar to chat, like how myspace or facebook has it

no its not a forum i make the pages, with html, css and php. it will be a social networking site

It would be easy to get a chat bar on your site. The hard part would be trying to integrate the login system with it.
Maybe a script from HERE can help you get started.

I reccomend you just grab some forum software. Hand coding the entire thing would be difficult.

His site isn't going to be a forum. Its going to be a social networking site. :P

If you still want to go the Social Networking route, maybe use the Dolphin PHP script?

i said i don't want to use meebo, if i do i want the source code because i want to be able to edit it to make it like how i want
