I think installing it directly by uploading everything through FTP is easy enough. I don't like those Simple Installers in cPanel... I found the Wordpress script is outdated. I have done so many installations and never did I ever want to use a simple installer.

Just my opinion. :)

Well, this one actually isn't inside cPanel. It's a third party script. But I do agree - installing things yourself can save you from headaches down the line.

I strongly suggest you to install Wordpress by yourself!

I had several issues with 3rd party scripts such as premission messed up and so on.
