RE: FTP Client of choice?
It stores the password decrypted... so, only a hacker needs, is that file...
For any VIT (verry important thing) I need to ftp, I use WinSCP Portable :D |

RE: FTP Client of choice?
I have tried almost any FTP client that you can mention, some have good features, some others not, but I can't change my default client, the FTP that comes integrated with Total Commander, my favorite Windows Explorer substitute.
Only exception is when I need to connect via shell on port 22, in which case I use WinSCP with Putty.

RE: FTP Client of choice?
I've always used Filezilla, because it's the first FTP Client I've found and, since it does what I want it to do, I've never been looking for alternatives.

Just browse to this folder %appdata%\Filezilla and open sitemanager.xml. And I find this """feature""" very useful :P (I've never heard of a virus/trojan/whatever that downloads that file from my Computer so, as of now, no worries for me). |

Originally I just used what came with Windows do get FTP access, then I did I trial on SmartFTP (I think that is what it was called, it was a long time ago) And now I am currently using Filezilla, and I prefer it over all FTP clients, even the paid ones. Amazing how free programs can be better than paid sometimes.

I prefer using FileZilla. Open source and it maximizes your uploads and downloads. Everything goes so much faster in FTP if you use it. I think after that I would use FlashFXP, but that would be last resort. And I wouldn't use anything else but cPanel File Manager.

I always have used FileZilla. It's fast, easy to use, simple layout and I have no reason to use another FTP client. It does the job just fine for me :)

RE: FTP Client of choice?
I've been a WS_FTP Pro user for the past six years.
In my opinion, it beats out all of the free FTP Clients and it also beats all of the paid FTP clients. If you haven't looked at WS_FTP Pro, you really should! It's intuitive and that means you don' have to watch any videos or read any long manuals to figure it out. |

RE: FTP Client of choice?
I have used WS_FTP Pro, and despite it's an intuitive and user friendly software, I still prefer to stick to the built-in Total Commander FTP client because I like to edit over the server and it's easier for me use the extended options of this file manager.
I know it's possible edit files with WS_FTP, but I guess is matter of dependency I have developed after using TC for over a decade.
