...Makes me wonder, whether the writer (of that) accidently misplaced a "9".

Well, there are many other old people in Old Testament:
Adam: 930 years;
Seth: 912 years;
Enosh: 905;
Kenan: 910;
Methuselah: 969;
...
I guess it's the problem of the date calculation at the time, that 9 years in the calendar Adam used equal one year, or less, in current calender system. :) During the history the calendar system has been changed, changed, then changed again...
