Vanilla Forums - kxjakkk - 08-10-2010

Has anyone here heard of Vanilla Forums?

It takes a slightly different approach to forum organization/interaction, and seems a lot "cleaner" to me. They recently released Vanilla 2 and I have yet to try this out for myself, but you can look in the community for a demo.

Do you guys think that it has what it takes to compete against the more popular options out there?

No, personally, I think MyBB is destined to become the most powerful free forum software on the internet. Vanilla is... Lacking various things.

I've run into it on several occasions, but eventhough it shares my (nick)name, i've found it to be lacking some of the nice features that is common in large board packages, such as MyBB, PHPBB, etc.

I think if you are building an english forum, mybb is the best choice
however, if you are planning to create an chinese forum, discuz is the best solution

I have to agree with that. There's quite a few plugins and all, but MyBB and other forum software seem to just have more, no matter what. It's a decent alternative and lightweight solution though.
