Abortion - omgx3 - 08-03-2011 Personally, I'm fine with the idea of abortion. However, there will be some people who will end up abusing abortion if it were legalized. Allowing it would make sex seem less consequential. People would think, "Oh, I have something to fall back on if something were to happen." But at the same time, people should have enough sense to use contraception most of the time. But contraceptives aren't effective all of the time. There's a small percentage, ~5% of all cases, where they fail to work properly, potentially causing an unwanted pregnancy. Abstinence would be the better option in the first place, but that's not what happens in actuality. Most likely, the woman will end up with a child she doesn't want. It's definitely not the most ideal situation for anyone, so abortion should be legalized. After all, people have the right to their own personal lives. Any thoughts? RE: Abortion - Dante - 08-03-2011 Abortion should be kinda legalized. Only professionals and stuff should be able to do it and parents would need to request it. Then maybe they should look up the parents life's and see if their current situation is bad enough that having a child would be insane. Some people can't afford having a child and I think that they should be allowed to abort, for their sake AND the sake of the child. If it's discovered that the parents are in a situation in which they can have a child without issues, however, they shouldn't be allowed to abort. Women that are pregnant due to something like rape should definitely be allowed to abort, too. RE: Abortion - gamingmaster42 - 08-04-2011 I also think that abortion should be legalized. Contraceptives aren't 100% effective, and in those cases it requires abortion to prevent an unintended pregnancy that the mother/father do not want. Further when you add in the cost of taking care of the child, some families cannot handle that cost - both socially and financially. RE: Abortion - Zach - 08-04-2011 I don't think it should be a matter of what the mother and father want, it should be a matter of what they need. If they can't afford a child, that's no reason to kill it. They should put it up for adoption or into the care of the state. The only situation in which I believe abortion would be okay is if giving birth would pose significant risk to the mother. There's no sense in potentially losing two lives when you could save one. Oh god, I forgot about adoption entirely! Yes, yes, put the kid up for adoption instead of aborting, that's better. I feel so stupid for forgetting about adoption... RE: Abortion - Cecil15 - 08-05-2011 I agree with Zack and Omgx3. This shouldn't be an option if in the first place nothing was done inappropriately. I believe that we, as adults, should be responsible enough in whatever we do. And that includes having to engage with sex. We can always use contraceptives whenever we are not ready yet to have a child. In the process, we would be safe from STD's as well. Killing a baby that's living inside the woman's womb would be the most horrible thing for me. Everyone has the right to live, let's give the child this wonderful experience. RE: Abortion - clauemi - 08-08-2011 Abortion is just another word for murder. If abortion were legalized it would just mean more stupid girls being even more irresponsible and not knowing how to close their legs. Now of course I understand there are other circumstances like rape and such but that still does not give anyone the right to murder your child. There is always the option of adoption if you really feel like you cannot give that baby a decent life. RE: Abortion - Vanilla - 08-12-2011 Well, I'm against abortion being used as contraception, but I disagree that it should be completely illegal. Once in a while, you come across stories where vile pedophiles have come across a little child. If the child haven't matured enough, there is a very large chance, that both the unborn being as well as the little girl will die. As for the actual thing? When does the transition from parasite to child/human actually commence? Is it a child as soon as the female egg have been seeded(?), or when the actual being is able to sustain itself? What makes a yet dysfunctional womb being less worth, than the flies and ants you smack everyday? The animal meat you eat? The organic cells on your groceries? RE: Abortion - pqnation - 08-23-2011 I think that abortion should stay the way it is now; legal under certain conditions. It's a woman's choice what she wants to do with her body and fetus growing inside of her but these choices need to be made the responsible way which is why there are limits to the whens and hows of an abortion. Now, if abortion was illegal, it wouldn't stop women from dealing with unwanted pregnancies; they'd just do it the illegal dangerous way and this is by no means what should be happening. RE: Abortion - MyDigitalpoint - 08-23-2011 Abortion should not be taken as an option or solution for all women, but agree it may proceed under certain circumstances for the well-being and health of both mother and the developing baby, this is why I applaud governments who have legalized it. |
