I use gmail and aol. AOL is a lot more user friendly and is pretty standard but gmail really goes out with providing it's users with exclusive Google content such as their social network and a few tweaks to the emailing world. I also think it's great for adsense users who have gmail since they get notified of changes first (that is a fact).

Talkiing about AdSense, let me tell you that having Gmail associated might be a drawback.

A couple of months ago one of my Gmail account was suspended due to "unusual" inactivity and therefore I was unable to sign in Adsense despite this account was no banned.

I elaborated about the many reason this could happen and never figured out what was the real "suspicious" activity; a sudden wave of Twitter following notifications sent to such account.

The fact is that getting that account back was the major pain I have ever experienced in my almost 12 years being online and being about to lose the money accrued in Adsense due to inability to use the suspended Gmail account.

As a side note; I believe an email should provide the service it was designed for; sending and receiving electronic messages. Everything else in Gmail is a "cosmetic" approach that makes slower the service trying to comprise just about everything in an email account.

Now that Gmail has integrated a Google +1 summary on the top, connecting to the site is even slower than it was before, particularly when you connect from a hot spot, from where it's truly hard to sign off even if the machines have Windows 7 and are pretty faster with other sites.

Gmail was good until they began to introduce "Labs" which must be the main nuisance, bearing in mind that disabling it is the solution that they provide when te page delays to load.

Really terrible!

I never noticed any delays in loading Gmail when using lab functions, and Gmail allows enough ways to disable them (even before even loading the page).
And well, it's not called Labs for no reason, now is it? :P

Hmm, I agree adsense can be quite annoying sometimes, we've had quite some problems with it too, but that doesn't make Gmail less good.

I've been using Google Mail for the past few years, I've tried others such as Yahoo mail and Hotmail, but none of them are as good as Google Mail.

Here's why:

- I can quickly access Gmail from the Google homepage with no need to login.
- The design is clean, minimal and easy to use.
- Google Mail has a great spam filter, meaning that I never see any spam in my main inbox whereas Hotmail's spam filter is terrible
and you end up with thousands of spam email in your inbox.
- I can use my Google Mail account for other Google services such as YouTube
- As it is made by Google, it is VERY secure.
