It's possible to use Joomla if you run via a script called InstantInstall. Just download, upload to the file manager, then go to the URL (e.g. yoursite.com/instantinstall.php).

Download: http://instantinstall.org/

This script also lets you install other programs than just Joomla. Here's a full list:

Wordpress
bbPress
Chyrp
Drupal
Joomla
phpBB
PrestaShop
Symphony
Vanilla

Note: The directory that you add the file to is where the program will be installed, e.g. if you wanted WordPress on yoursite.com/blog then upload the file to /home/yourname/public_html/blog and then go to that URL. Simple.

Hope this helped :D.

RE: Big list of programs - Zach - 09-12-2010

Khy: WPMU is for multiple blogs on a single install, I think WP3 has it by default.
