RE: Slow PC Help - pspman - 09-11-2010 No, Linux is the best, Im buying my own laptop soon, but Im gonna install Linux, either aside from Windows 7, or together! RE: Slow PC Help - Matt - 09-11-2010 Well, reformatting your hard drive and reinstalling everything should be generally your last resort. However, there are a variety of things you can do: 1. Antivirus programs can cause the computer to run a lot slower. Check them. 2. MSCinfig can tell you what's running at startup, disable some dumb things and it'll go faster. RE: Slow PC Help - YTGraphics - 09-12-2010 if you get a Linux i recommend LinuxMint IT IS AWESOME! O_O RE: Slow PC Help - pspman - 09-12-2010 The only Problem with Linux is Software Compatibility, I may need Photo Shop. RE: Slow PC Help - khy - 09-12-2010 I think photoshop does not support linux lol RE: Slow PC Help - RichardGv - 09-12-2010 (09-12-2010, 11:30 AM)pspman Wrote: The only Problem with Linux is Software Compatibility, I may need Photo Shop. If you have a Photoshop CS4 license, it probably runs okay in Wine: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=14318&iTestingId=52421 Photoshop CS5, they said, works like garbage, though: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=20158 Of course, if you have a robust computer, VirtualBox is another choice for running Photoshop. Or maybe, just keep using the native GIMP. GIMP isn't too terrible. RE: Slow PC Help - pspman - 09-13-2010 Ok cool, thanks guys, I guess case closed? RE: Slow PC Help - YTGraphics - 09-13-2010 you don't need photoshop what you have GIMP! :D (I'm in love with gimp :P) RE: Slow PC Help - Zach - 09-13-2010 GIMP has some weaknesses... but is pretty good for simple design. @pspman: computer fixed? RE: Slow PC Help - pspman - 09-15-2010 Yeah, not for long :D I uninstalled 5 Programs, removed some startup programs in Msconfig, scanned for Maleware, and Viruses, and cleaned with Ccleaner, now I just gotta sfc /scannow in cmd! |
