Require Javascript on site? - Vanilla - 04-22-2010 I would just like to ask for peoples opinions regarding javascript. Is it ok (anno 2010) to require javascript for people to access ones site? Or should all people to atleast passively be able to access the site to read content. Or should all javascript be completely unobtrussive? What about compatibility regarding portable devices? What do you think? RE: Require Javascript on site? - HiddenKnowledge - 04-22-2010 Just make sure you don't replace the important content with javascript (SEO). RE: Require Javascript on site? - Matt - 04-22-2010 Very true. Messes up your SEO big time, not to mention it's a slight hassle to set up. Mobile devices... It would be a fail if there was JavaScript there.. RE: Require Javascript on site? - Zach - 04-23-2010 iPhones have JavaScript. Android-phones have JavaScript. The leading dumbphone browser, Opera Mini, has JavaScript. RE: Require Javascript on site? - Matt - 04-23-2010 Opera Mini for iPhone really isn't cool. Still I'm not a fan of JS. RE: Require Javascript on site? - Zach - 04-23-2010 Opera Mini for dumbphone is awesome :D RE: Require Javascript on site? - Matt - 04-23-2010 Well, the zooming isn't. And it has no spellcheck.
