Dot.tk requires that you get a certain amount of visitors, and they seem very trigger-happy when it comes to cancelling domains and holding them for ransom.
FreeDNS is a ghost town, and the domains under it (us.to, vr.lt, etc.) have no guarantee that they will be renewed to prevent the loss of thousands of domains. Also, you can properly register only two and a half domains per free account.
